I threw a lot of cardboard boxes and packing items into the garbage can when I relocated to Brisbane a few months ago. I recently read an article on how much packaging ends up in landfills. After reading it, I realised I had made a huge mistake that I could have avoided. When I move again, I'll make sure it's done in an environmentally responsible manner. Everyone should be aware that there are several fantastic ways for accomplishing such a move. Here's a great article for you that has information about moving home without harming the environment. Brisbane Lord Mayor labels 30kph speed limit plea a 'socialist' Greens push
Brisbane LNP Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner says 30 kilometres per hour speed limits are a socialist Greens policy that will not be trialled in the council area and the CBD's 40kph speed limit is an appropriate speed.
At Tuesday's council meeting Greens councillor Jonathan Sri asked Cr Schrinner what would be needed to trial a 30kph speed limit in the inner-city suburb of West End.
"More and more cities around the world are adopting speed limits of 30kph in recognition of the fact that lower speed limits can improve safety and convenience for active and public transport users, and in turn can help encourage a shift away from car dependence," Cr Sri said.

Investigation begins after Brisbane creek runs blue killing fish
Queensland environment officers are calling for public assistance after a tidal creek in Brisbane's east turned blue after the release of a contaminant.
The waterway near Curtain Avenue sits in an industrial area at Eagle Farm.
Department of Environment and Science (DES) officers were called to the site on Saturday after a member of the public reported blue water and dead fish.
"We're not sure what the contaminant is, or if it was accidentally or deliberately released into the creek," DES director of compliance Kate Harbert said.
